My fellow Neighbors, With the possibility of Tropical Systems impacting our area, I'd like to remind you to take the necessary precautions to ensure you and your family are prepared. Just a few things to keep in mind: - Make sure you have enough food, water and medicines.
- Stock up on non-perishable food items, jugs/bottled water and refill any essential prescriptions.
- Make sure you have a battery operated radio and plenty of batteries, as well as flashlights and/or battery operated lanterns.
- Fill your cars with gas and charge up your cell phones.
- Secure any yard items, deck chairs, tables, play equipment, pots, flags, or anything which could become a projectile.
- Make sure you have any essential paperwork ready to take with you in the event of an evacuation.
For thorough details on how to prepare you can visit the hurricane section of WRAL at http://www.wral.com/weather/hurricanes. Their informational articles and comprehensive checklists are a great resource. Be safe my neighbors! Susan Shadle Breckenridge Safety Committee |
